Peter's current research interests:
- Electromagnetically induced tranparency - also known
as EIT, it represents a novel way to achieve enormous nonlinearities
without absorption through quantum interference effects. This
research received an enormous amount of attention around 1999 when
Lene Hau used it to slow light down to a crawl and even stop it and
revive it later. Our interests lies in using a single EIT atom
to create ultra-low power (even single photon) optical transistors
